B and I have been "officially" together for 2 years today! So many wonderful things have happened since then that I've found myself reminiscing about some of my favorite moments...
1. Our first date was so much more creative than the typical dinner + movie (not knocking the dinner + movie, but I was always impressed when guys were more creative)... we went on a tour of local waterfalls and watched the sunset over a GORGEOUS view of the mountains... then dinner and a movie :-)
2. A couple weeks after our first date I went over to B's apartment after work. He'd cooked me dinner, which was very thoughtful, and then we sat around talking until 4am.
3. We made a trip to a bowl game over Christmas break, and he invited my sister to go with us.
4. On a day where I was really stressed out about 2 huge presentations (and sick on top of that stress) I found flowers and Vitamin C waiting on my car with an encouraging note from him.
5. For Valentine's day he made me a scrapbook of all our special memories up to that point. I snuck into his apartment and "decorated" his entire room with post-it notes... each of which had a special memory/thought written on it. He was still finding them when he moved out of his apartment 5 months later :-)
6. He wore a tux for me for my sorority formal (only occurred 2x since I've known him).
7. He will wash my car for me just because he loves me.
8. He encouraged me to try playing golf, and was very patient with me when it took me 27 swings to make contact with the ball...
9. He gives amazing hugs when I've had a horrible day at work.
10. He bought me a season ticket for college football games so I'd be able to go and have someone right next to me to explain things to me.
11. He enrolled in 2 music classes with me our last semester of college which allowed us to each lunch together most days.... we'd sit around outside (weather permitting) and talk about what we hoped to accomplish and our dreams... wonderful conversations :-)
12. He's incredible with his nephew and will make a fantastic father someday.
13. We can have a great time together with 10 of our friends or just hanging out at home.
14. The first time he told me that he loved me I knew he meant it more than anyone else who had ever said those words to me before him.
15. He allowed me to drag him to a musical an hour away from where we lived after only getting 4 hours of sleep the night before...and stayed awake the whole time.
16. He spent part of the time we had off for Christmas with my family last year and got to cook a pig (major holiday tradition) with the men in my family. Instead of standing around as the on call gofer like the other "non blood" men get to do, he actually got to touch the pig. My uncle who married into the family 10 years ago has never had that honor. I was proud.
17. He proposed to me by taking me on a walk through our college campus. We started at the location where we met then visited other locations that had special memories for us. I never saw it coming and was completely stunned when he popped the question!
18. He played a HUGE part in planning the wedding and the extra help made everything much less stressful than I thought it was going to be.
19. With the exception of him missing our rehearsal (how many grooms can say that?!) our wedding day was perfect for us. Everything went smoothly, was a lot of fun, and his face as he said his vows made me feel like the most blessed woman ever.
20. And while this is not a memory, I am so excited about the upcoming holidays together as husband and wife. Family is so important, and I love how the holidays help to bring everyone together. I'll have 6 Christmas celebrations now instead of the usual 3, but I'll get to share them all with B for the first time which I'm really happy about!
Hope this wasn't too sappy... this man spoils me beyond what I deserve, but I love every minute I get to spend with him. What are some of your favorite memories with your significant other/families during the holidays?
