Great news:
B got the performance rating he needed in order to be promoted early!
Not so great news:
In order to get a promotion, the promotion committee (creative name) has to meet and approve it.
Potentially great news:
The promotion committee met late yesterday, so B could hear news anytime.
I hope his promotion is approved... it would make our Christmas a little merrier, help us get out of "start-up" debt quicker, and most importantly B would feel great about himself (not that he doesn't, but who wouldn't enjoy a pat on the back for exceptionally above average work?).
In other news I feel like my Christmas decorations are pathetic compared to all the lovely decorations you all have posted on your blogs! You are all so creative with fun themes and colors and original ideas!
We have a tree (decided on color lights) in our living room, a college tree in our alma mater's colors in the office, stockings on the mantle, and a centerpiece on the kitchen table. All are very simple.
I opted against going all out this year since we have a curious lab that likes to chew on anything at his level (which can be quite high when he is on two paws) and we've been trying to save more money. Our goal is to live entirely off B's income so we can save mine, but doing that while paying off debts can be tricky. We've got a great plan for 2009 though so things are looking up!
I made chocolate chip cookies (my specialty) last night for B to take to work today for their 12 days of goodies event. I kind of make them from scratch and apparently they are a hit because B's friends who have had them request them all the time now! I feel very wife-ish haha when I get to cook dinner and make sweets so I don't mind making these at all.
Today is also potentially B's last day of work until January.. or at least until after Christmas... I'm trying not to be jealous. There are rumors floating around work that if we can make a case for why we need the 24th off of work it might be granted. Considering all my customers will be closed, our plant (you know-that processes the material I sell) will be closed all week, AND I've managed to convince at least 2 companies so far to pick-up material on Monday and Tuesday of what usually is a completely dead week should help my case. If not, I've got the emotion card that I haven't seen my family since this summer, and I've never missed a Christmas eve at my grandmother's house EVER I can throw in. Part of me would love to go in and ask for the day, and if told no hand my boss my key and tell him I was taking it.. oh and thank you for the privilege of working here but consider this my resignation... but I'm not at a point just yet where that would be a financially smart move. My day will come, hopefully sooner rather than later... I'm ready to find that job I actually like.
Anyways, I guess I've rambled enough... Happy Wednesday!

That's so good to hear that someone's actually doing well in this economy. I hope in the long run, they give it to him! Sounds like he deserves it.

That's great that his performance rating was what he needed for the promotion, I hope he gets it!
