Would you rather...

I spend about 45 minutes each week with a small group of 8th grade girls at church. We talk about our weeks and what's going on in our lives and then do an activity that ties into a devotion.

This week's topic was wisdom and how it is more valuable than anything else (Proverbs). Our lead in activity was the "would you rather" game.

Would you rather not be able to use email or not be able to use your cell phone?
Would you rather not be able to hear or not be able to talk for a whole day?
Would you rather have 500 tarantulas crawling around your house or 100 crickets jumping in your room?

you get the idea...

When I asked, "Would you rather have 3 arms or 3 legs?" one of the girls screamed " ooo!!! ooo!!! 3 arms!!! Texting would be SOOO much easier that way!"

The other 2 girls agreed with her at first, then decided that both options would be weird and uncomfortable.

The last question/tie into the topic question was "Would you rather have 1 million dollars or all the wisdom in the world?"

In unison, all 3 yell, "Million dollars!"

So I mention that the Bible says that wisdom is more valuable than anything else, and one of them begins to justify her answer.

Girl #1 - Well I would choose a million dollars and I would use it to help people. I would buy my parents a house, I mean, they birthed me and all and I'm sure that hurt so the least I could do is buy them a nice house for it, and then I would buy the homeless some food so their stomachs wouldn't growl and then.....

Girl #2 -with the straightest most serious face ever - Well while she's out helping people, I'd help out my wardrobe!

Middle schoolers are never dull :-)
